Super Exciting Announcement Tedx

May 15, 2019/in lifestyle, News /by Janey Lee Grace

As an author, presenter and speaker I have always (like so many of the clients I’ve coached) wanted to do a TEDx talk. I applied right at the last minute on a whim really and I am thrilled to say I was selected from hundreds of applicants to be part of TEDxNorwichED. It’s Europe’s only full day TEDxED event.

I’m talking Saturday 13th July and I’m told tickets are likely to fly out of the door, they go on sale at 7.30pm tonight.

There is a Facebook live event tonight around 7.30pm to meet some of the speakers, I will join in of course and you’d be welcome to look in on their Facebook page @tedxnorwiched

GET YOUR TICKETS HERE>>>

untitled 2

And what am I talking about?

Well the title of my talk is ‘Sobriety Rocks’ – Who knew! I’m sure many of you have seen my posts, blogs and events I’m running such as next Monday’s ‘Selfcare for the Sober Curious’ event. I want to encourage people who know or suspect they might feel better physically and emotionally without alcohol in their lives, to recognize that there is a whole new world waiting. I really have been amazed to discover, ( to quote Catherine Gray’s bestselling book title) ‘The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober’.

Of course, I am passionate about holistic living so my take on it all is to inspire people towards mindful drinking or quitting and then focusing on good nutrition, ditching the toxins et al.

I’d love to see you there, or if not, of course you will be able to watch it live online.

Attract Clients on Instagram (How to!)

May 12, 2019/in News, your brand /by Janey Lee Grace

I Interviewed Inga Deksne recently, she’s a brilliant Instagram expert who can show you how to generate customers AND money using Instagram. I put to Inga a lot of questions that I know many of you have, some of you that currently use Instagram and also from those of you who are reluctant/fearful to get on board with it.

Are you a member of my Facebook group The Media Hub? – if you are not a member then come on over and take a look – it’s where I share and offer occasional press leads.

Instagram is an amazing way to promote your brand so do join my Facebook group for free and catch the video interview and Q&A to get some important tips.

Request to join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/themediahubhostedbyjaney/

Inga’s course is a Masterclass for all things Instagram and right now you get it at just £97 – an incredible price. Here’s what it’s all about:

If you are a business owner who use or want to use Instagram for business you need to understand that growing number of following without solid foundation and strategy will be getting you numbers but not the results. The Instagram Success Habit Lab teaches you not only how to get followers but what you need to have in place if you want to bring customers and make sales from your Instagram activities.

It differs from any other courses because it teaches not just about how to use Instagram but how to integrate it into your day-to-day life so you can maintain a consistent presence.

Should you consider this course?

If everyone keeps telling you that you should be on Instagram but you feel that it is another chore for your busy day then this course will help you plan and organise your Instagram activities.

If your Instagram feed looks like a family photo album where you share your cute kids’ pictures or food you ate, they may get likes but they don’t bring customers, if you want to learn how to use Instagram for business then this course is for you.

If you feel confused what to post on your Instagram feed to attract new clients then this course will show you how to plan your content and how to behave on Instagram to attract new customers.

This course is NOT about how to get 10000 followers in 30 days, it’s about how to use Instagram as a profitable business tools. If the vanity metrics are important then this course is not for you. However, in May, we will be focusing on growing your followers at least to 1000 followers.

Special offer – if you join now you will also get additional live trainings and support in the group, it will be available only for the first 100 members for the first 100 days

Top 10 tips for facing presentation fear

February 4, 2019/in lifestyle, your brand /by Janey Lee Grace

A staggering number of people are afraid of speaking in public, in fact its rated higher than a fear of spiders, divorce or even death!  I once worked with a great entrepreneur who was offered an amazing opportunity to appear on Fox news to talk about her brand, she turned it down because of her fear of being in the limelight.  I really believe as the title of my book says You are the Brand, and people do business with those they like know and trust, so speaking and being able to share your authentic message is a great way to connect with them.

Here’s a few tips to help you overcome your fears of speaking in public.

  1. Firstly accept that you may be nervous and imperfect, and that’s ok, in fact the more ‘human’ you are the better. So what if you drop your papers or spill your water?, it makes you relatable.  Nerves are normal, its ok to have butterflies in your tummy, but preferably butterflies flying in perfect formation!

2 You will be less nervous the more Preparation you’ve done. Prepare your content carefully, don’t cram in too many ideas and share what you know and are enthusiastic about, you won’t feel as nervous if you’re confident that you are delivering an authentic message.   Don’t try and learn the script word for word but DO know the ‘sections’ and asign bullet points to each.

3 Prepare for your performance too, that means saying your words out loud, its muscle memory, practice recording yourself, and watching your body language too.

4 Get your voice ready, do some vocal exercises, some tongue twisters to get your mouth moving and some vocal warm-ups varying the speed and the pitch.

5 Remember the power of the Pause, it’s the punctuation and it can help you out of a tricky moment, if you have lost your thread, just pause, check your notes (don’t have a full script on stage) and carry on, it feels like forever but its probably just seconds.

6 Engage the audience, make eye contact at various points around the room, and believe that these people want to hear your talk and are open to what you have to say. When you first go on stage if there is something bothering you that you feel everyone will be thinking say it first, ie if you have a massive zit on your nose, get that out of the way…come on stage and introduce your zit…if your contact lens are giving you hassle and you need to keep wiping your eyes, flag that up rather than have people wondering if you are upset about something.

7 Before going onstage do some breathing, when we are nervous we breathe in a very shallow way, breathe slowly and deeply.

8 Learn a simple tapping routine EFT (emotional freedom technique) allows you to tap lightly on the side of the wrist, you can say your fears out loud or to yourself but doing a tapping sequence helps to take away the’emotional charge’

9 Stand in the ‘Power Pose’ before you go on stage, just a minute or two in the so called power pose can change your state from one of fear to confidence and strength. Stand with feet apart, chest back head held high and arms by your side, look forwards and up, its impossible to fear sad and scared when you are fully upright, its what psychologists call The Cybernetic loop

10 And the big one….Visualise yourself rocking it!  Athletes often visualise themselves beating their own best time, or winning the race, see yourself coming off the stage and punching the air as you say YES I did it!

Love, kindness and Imperfection

February 1, 2019/in lifestyle, Uncategorized /by Janey Lee Grace

I wrote my first book Imperfectly Natural Woman over 13 years ago now, it was an Amazon number one best seller (after a national radio interview) and whilst being a bit ahead of my time, (I was writing about kale before it had its own publicist!) I think it struck a chord because of my use of my word ‘imperfectly’

You see in our quest for happiness, optimum health, success and abundance all of us at our core know that we are a little bit ‘flawed’ and unlikely to get everything right, especially first time around.   As someone who is a Hay House author and has interviewed many spiritual leaders I am well versed in the ‘I am enough’ thinking and the importance of self love, but I am still acutely aware of my own imperfections and failings and find it hard to reconcile that if I tell myself enough that I am perfect – lo and behold I will be.  More and more people are bringing skeletons out of their closet and admitting to suffering from anxiety and depression.  Its easy to be fooled by social media into thinking that everyone is living the dream with their instagram filtered lifestyle, so when even high flying celebs open up and admit they have down days and black dog moments everyone can finally breathe and admit #metoo.  If you run your own business it can feel especially lonely to be constantly comparing yourself to others in your field, its highly likely your inner critic will be having a field day reminding you of your imperfections and ensuring that you go deep into despair…when you aren’t putting a brave face on it for the camera.

Last year on Steve Wright in the afternoon on BBC Radio 2  we interviewed Zen Buddhist monk Haemin Sunim on his lovely book The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down. Now he is back with a #1 internationally bestselling book of spiritual wisdom about learning to love ourselves, with all our imperfections, its called Love for Imperfect Things; How to accept yourself in a world striving for perfection.

He said ‘Hearing the words Be good to yourself first, then to others was like being struck by lightning’

Many of us respond to the pressures of life by turning inward and ignoring problems, sometimes resulting in anxiety or depression. Others react by working harder at the office, at school, or at home, hoping that this will make ourselves and the people we love happier. But what if being yourself is enough? Just as we are advised on airplanes to take our own oxygen first before helping others, we must first be at peace with ourselves before we can be at peace with the world around us.

Haemin Sunim turns his trademark wisdom to the art of self-care, arguing that only by accepting yourself–and the flaws that make you who you are–can you have compassionate and fulfilling relationships with your partner, your family, and your friends. With more than thirty-five full-color illustrations, Love for Imperfect Things will appeal to both your eyes and your heart, and help you learn to love yourself, your life, and everyone in it.

Love for imperfect things; How to accept yourself in a world striving for perfection.

When you care for yourself first, the world begins to find you worthy of care.

This feels so relevant right now as I am interviewing quit lit authors and sober heroes for my new podcast Alcohol Free Life, the thread that runs through everything is the need for self love and self care.

Dr David Hamilton was a guest recently and I’ve known him for years as a fellow Hay House author, he is a former scientist and has written ten books now. Why kindness is good for you was a game changer for many people because he proved scientifically that the giver gets incredible benefits for emotional and physical well being even more than the recipient. As an advocate for a kinder world  David reminds us that just by practicing acts of kindness we can increase our happiness, improve our health and forge strong connections with others, s new book The Little Book of Kindness gives us  easy-to-follow tools, strategies and exercises so that we can harness its power to improve all aspects of our lives and the lives of the people around us.  kindness changes the brain, impacts the heart and immune system, is an antidote to depression, improves relationships and even slows the ageing process.

In our interview for the podcast we talk about how we can start to ‘re-wire’ our brain and change our thinking, so important if we are trying to change a habit or free ourselves from addiction.   David explains the difference between self love and self esteem and gives us tips for self-care.  It seems that kindness , self acceptance and gratitude are all interlinked and all of us need to get better at it.

The Little Book of Kindness: Connect with others, be happier, transform your life by David Hamilton

Another forthcoming podcast guest is Shahroo Izadi author of The Kindness Method.  She is a  behavioural Change Specialist and her book focuses on how to break bad habits.  Shahroo is a support group facilitator and therapist at Amy’s Place, a recovery house for women set up by The Amy Winehouse Foundation.  Shahroo studied Psychosocial Sciences and Psychology, and  learned an enormous amount about how drug addiction is assessed and treated in the UK.

She has a revolutionary message: treating yourself kindly is the only way to make changes that last. She is living proof that her method works – after years of yo-yo dieting she shed over 8 stone (and has kept it off ever since). Professional training coupled with personal experience led her to develop The Kindness Method™, where traditional strict regimes are turned upside down to leave you feeling empowered, positive and ready to embrace change.  Whether it’s weight loss, cutting down on drinking, improving relationships or ditching a dull job for one that you love, The Kindness Method will help you change any unwanted habit. Because when you shift your focus to your individual strengths and skills (rather than what you can’t do), you too will find you have the power to change – for good.

The Kindness Method Changing Habits for Good by Shahroo Izadi is out now

I’m also planning to talk with Patrick Regan OBE. He is an author and the Founder of urban youth work charity XLP, an organisation which aims to create positive futures for young people and make a sustainable impact on poverty and educational failure in London.

Patrick founded the Christian charity Kintsugi Hope with his wife after a series of incidents that took him physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually ‘the brink’ —at a time of illness and loss all around us.  He wrote a blog post and found that  lots of other people feel alone in their struggles; so he saw the need  to be vulnerable and open about hard times. Patrick says, This is the way that healing can take place, in safe and supportive spaces. Patrick says.

‘I came across kintsugi, a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold, while I was having major reconstructive surgery on my legs. We’d also had losses and stress in the family, and I was working very hard with XLP, and suddenly there was a perfect storm of things going wrong. But we learned so much, which I don’t think we would have learned otherwise.  Kintsugi repairs brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful than it was before.Instead of hiding the scars, it makes a feature of them. It’s a beautiful concept, giving broken people hope for the future’

Honesty over silence; Its OK not be OK by Patrick Regan is out now

How wonderful is that!  Brings us right back to accepting ourselves – despite imperfection and looking for the beauty and love – even within broken things

The Financial Healer Mark Bristow talks money…

December 26, 2018/in Uncategorized /by Janey Lee Grace

Financial Healing? It Isn’t About The Money

Coach and Financial Healer Mark Bristow asks; Are you suffering a financial hangover after Christmas?   Worried about your business as you head into a new year?

Statistics from the money charity, show that outstanding Consumer Credit lending was £196 Billion as at the end of February 2017, an increase of £15 Billion over the previous 12 months. This is equivalent to £289.79 for every adult in the UK.

Furthermore, the number of people declared insolvent or bankrupt in the last year was 90,520, more than enough to fill Wembley stadium (source: Money Charity, April 2017). What is particularly worrying is this is happening during a prolonged period of the lowest borrowing rates in living history (The Bank of England base rate being 0.5% or lower since March 2009)

Financial HealingDebt

So how do we allow ourselves to get into debt? A simple solution is to ensure we spend less than we earn, so why is it so difficult to implement? The answer may come from an unexpected source, rather than look for answers externally, we may have to work on the inner game.

What are your beliefs around money? Do you remember being told that “money doesn’t grow on trees” “it isn’t for the likes of us” or that “money is the root of all evil”… If you have carried these beliefs from childhood into your adult life, is it any wonder your financial situation isn’t how you would like it to be?

Furthermore, our beliefs go deeper than just about money, our  financial situation may be an indication of how we value ourselves. Usually a core belief exists which focuses on not being good enough or deserving enough to have an abundance of wealth.

When I first started in this work, I was constantly surprised by the number of clients who had no problem in making money but could not keep hold of it. A bit of inner detective work always highlighted a lack of self worth.

There are also a number of other areas where a lack of self worth can be highlighted, such as weight, health, relationships and careers, so what can be done to change your self worth and increase your net worth?

The first step is to take responsibility for your current financial position. This is not the same as wasting countless hours blaming yourself, or others, for your overspending. It is about accepting where you are right now and making a promise to yourself, or to others, to finally do something about it.

Secondly, get to work on your core belief. Once your core belief is identified, it becomes far easier to change and take the first steps towards living a life of abundance in every meaning of the word.

On an ongoing basis, we can train our minds to think differently about how we spend our money. Think before every purchase. Have you ever bought something and then on reflection wished you hadn’t? This is the financial equivalent of eating chocolate cake when you are on a diet. It seemed a good idea at the time but is followed by days of regret. Instead of that impulse buy, consider asking yourself the following:-

Do I really need to buy this?

If yes, is there a cheaper alternative that will do the job just as well?

What are the consequences of not buying it?

For example, £5 spent on buying a coffee and sandwich every working day adds up to £12,000 over a ten year period. At the very least, asking yourself these three questions each time you make a purchase will create a habit of making you think before you buy.

… And if you buy something you later regret purchasing, you can always send it back.

Taking these first small steps can make a huge difference in the long run, remember to increase your net worth, you may first need to change your self worth.
