Janey on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip

It was oh so hot this summer when we visited the antique shops in the Cotswolds and enjoyed our road trip for Celebrity Antiques Road Trip .. but we had a fantastic time!   Tim Smith (my partner in crime on the Steve Wright Show on BBC Radio 2) were the contestants on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip broadcast at 8pm Friday 23rd November.  We had such a great time with our antiques experts, David you are SO knowledgeable, thank you for bearing with me and my hopeless choices.

I found a few lovely quirky items though and much hilarity ensured when I found a lovely old gong, and they all took the mickey out of me for waxing lyrical about gong baths!

We’re in good company for the series there’s some cool celebs taking part,  Al Murray, Anthea Turner, and the Reverend Richard Coles among them.

The BBC website says…

Radio presenters and chums Janey Lee Grace and Tim Smith take a break from Steve Wright’s Big Show on BBC Radio 2 to seek treasure amongst the Cotswolds and the Malverns, with excellent expert guidance courtesy of auctioneer James Braxton and dealer David Harper. But long before arriving at the Buckinghamshire auction, Janey’s vintage Austin Healey takes her to uncover the story of cross-dressing music hall superstar Vesta Tilley. Meanwhile sport fan Tim in a sporty MG gets to grips with the art of Shin Kicking and the ‘Cotswold Olympicks’! Expect outsider art, some strangely coloured crockery and, of course, several factoids.

It was fantastic being driven around in the classic cars, we had a moment in the Austen Healy when it sort of ‘blew’ up – the producers had a plan B….walk several miles down country lanes to the next shop (TV gold darling!) but thankfully the experience vintage car owner who was travelling with us was able to cool the radiator down and fix it. Phew!  My favourite moment was finding out about Vesta Tilley at The Swan Theatre, what a star in her time she was, cross dressing even before pantomime!

Hope you enjoy the show, must say it was great to be back in the world of telly, Strictly here I come!  Just a joke, in my dreams x

Enjoy the show!

Health and Home on Property Radio

I’m pleased to be in the line-up of presenters for the brand new radio station Property Radio, it’s the first station of its kind to cover all aspects of property but also lifestyle, it’s all about your home, your holidays and your health.  My show is called Health and Home and covers all aspects of health and wellbeing sustainability and eco living. It’s a great opportunity for me to bring you some great guests, info and tips across a whole range of topics.

You can hear Property Radio on DAB in London every Sunday in association with Fix Radio between 12 noon and 6pm, for the rest of the week you can listen via www.propertyradio.co.uk

The schedule on Sundays features:

12 – 2  Jenny and Rob Ellice

2 – 4  Janey Lee Grace

4 – 6  Sharron Livingstone

I’m thrilled that I pitched out and asked for help and it came to me in the form of the fabulous Carla O’Shaughnessy who is helping me produce and is also my eco news expert. Carla worked for many years in PR for lots of big companies including a short radio stint at Virgin Radio (we think it was just after I left!) and is loving helping to find interesting guests and sustainable news.

My other regular contributer is therapist, practitioner and emotional wellbeing expert Rosalyn Palmer, she is the author of ‘Reset! A Blueprint for a Better Life’. Rosalyn is going to be looking at a whole range of issues around our mental health and wellbeing.

We have some great guests lined up including Georgina Wilson Powell founder of Pebble Magazine, a publication dedicated to sustainability, she will be encouraging us all to recognise the ‘Small change big difference approach’. Many of our guests have remarked on the impact of The Blue Planet TV series on their work and business, it seems that it’s really hit the spot and given us all a wake-up call that we need to start taking care of our oceans.

One powerhouse of a woman making a difference is George Wyatt founder of Wyatt and Jack who reclaim plastics and fabrics from deckchairs and bouncy castles, from these she creates fabulous one off bags and accessories. One of her first big commissions was for the SAS, but that’s not the army, its Surfers Against Sewage.

We will be looking at how we best use our resources and as it’s World Toilet Day soon we are speaking with Junaid Patel from FreeFlush, who help us find ways not to waste our sparkling clean water. And onto sustainability in buildings, Val Bagnell from Apex Airspace talks about utilising airspaces to help the housing crisis, and Christian Engelke discusses the possibilities of low carbon alternatives to gas boilers.

We will look at our shopping habits too, everything from how our weekly shopping might change to become more sustainable in the future with our upcoming guest Kevin Flynn from Thoughtworks, through to Jennifer Georgeson from SoJustShop, and John Pritchard who is the founder of a sustainable eyewear brand PALA.

It wouldn’t be health and wellbeing without a look at nutrition and Louise Mercieca will give us some healthy food swaps while Claire Lyons from Frugal Family tells us how we can save money and the planet. Of course it will be difficult for me to present a show without talking about ditching the chemicals and in addition to flagging up personal care products we will definitely be looking at how you can clean your home without potentially toxic chemicals – I’m hoping to interview Andrew East from Nu-eco, an amazing range of natural non toxic biodegradable cleaning products – who doesn’t want to know exactly how do you clean the loo without scary chemicals?

Our special guest on the first show is Georgina Wilson Powell founder of Pebble Magazine, a stylish sustainable magazine.
